Story - In early-1980s northern Italy, amid the lush Mediterranean landscapes of a serene and golden summer, 17-year-old, Elio, visits the family"s summer villa to spend his vacation with his father and Greco-Roman culture professor, Mr Perlman, his translator mother, Annella, and the American doctoral student who works there as an intern, Oliver. But, little by little, over the course of six fleeting weeks, a timid friendship between Elio and Oliver will prepare the ground for an unexpected bond, as the unexplored emotions of first love start boiling over. I know i"m too late for this but i just watched this last night and omg i still can"t get over with it. i keep thinking about it, the notable scenes, the ending, their affair. i got too much attached with this and i"m even straight but i love this! i superb love this. i cried all night fuck! this probably my all-time fave movie since then! i highly recommend this! 10/10. It"s so cute how he calls him Timmy, their friendship is so adorable bless... This scene alone deserves him any award, The happiness (Oliver called) surprise (about the engagement) inner anger (about the marriage) subtle pleading (when he told Oliver the his parents knows about them sort of What about us) and longing(calling Oliver by his own name)convey so well, This is THE SCENE that will end all scene. There"s a great element in this movie where no one pays for being gay. There"s no punishment, nobody gets sick, nobody has a wife that they have to tell, there"s no family drama. there"s nothing like that. It"s just two people who expose themselves and make themselves vulnerable to someone else and. it"s just a beautiful thing to watch happen. Armie Hammer. Respectfully, It strikes me that Armie is somewhat mistaken here, because Elio is devastated by the idea that Oliver has left him and. very possibly. never to return. So, in a way, Elio is surely punished by the seeming reality that he and the man he (still) loves have really come to the end of things in terms of their relationship.

How hard to express ones love without using the three magical word. Do a more perfect couuple exist. armie n tim are so in sync. The way he sways while nodding yes??. It"s probably one of my favorite scenes in the movie. The moment oliver told elio that he had fallen for him all along. This scene is beautiful.

Noted bookworm and audiophile Elio (Timothée Chalamet) is forced to surrender his bedroom for the summer when Oliver (Armie Hammer) an archeology student of his father (Michael Stuhlbarg) comes to stay with his family at their countryside villa in Italy.
While he is initially hostile towards the older visitor he has to show around town, Elio eventually realizes that his unfriendly demeanor is just a way to disguise what he really feels. Fortunately, Oliver feels the same.
While it is a beautifully shot and wondrously acted adaptation of the coming-of-age erotica that completes director Luca Guadagnino"s desire trilogy, one cannot overlook the film"s blatant ephebophilia, its overly optimistic ending, or its marathon runtime.
Nevertheless, thanks to pepperoni and sausage, Italy remains the origin of penis euphemisms. Yellow Light.

 

Ugh. The ending broke my heart. This was such a beautiful movie. Psst. Guys. He didn"t call it gay because neither of them are gay. They"re both bisexual. Additionally, it was the director"s wishes that this not be referred to as a gay movie - according to the director, it"s a film about beauty of the newborn idea of desire, unbiased and uncynical, with a sense of joie de vivre. If this movie has one lesson, Guadagnino said, it"s that actually, we should always be very earnest with one"s feelings, instead of hiding them or shielding ourselves. So there.
